Adam Lallana looks set to be the subject of a major transfer scramble in the summer with Chelsea Liverpool keen on signing him from Southampton at the end of the season, according to Goal.

Lallana has become one of the more influential players in the Premier League this season, with performances for the Saints catching the eye of national team coach Roy Hodgson, with the talented playmaker set for a place in England’s World Cup squad.

His displays have caught the attention of the Premier League’s big guns as well and he could be tempted to make the step up and test himself in Europe next season, with Southampton heavily unlikely to achieve qualification this season.

Southampton have unveiled that they have encountered some financial difficulties from the previous regime led by Nicola Cortese and while they have claimed that there is no need to sell Lallana or any of their other stars, a major bid could tempt them to part ways with the midfielder.

Lallana is rated in the £20 million plus bracket and his sale could allow the Saints to wipe out the vast majority of the debt they currently owe and make funds available for new players to replace him.

The England international is one of a number of players at Southampton currently linked with the big clubs in England, with Luke Shaw, Jay Rodriguez, Calum Chambers and Morgan Schneiderlin all recently touted for moves to top four clubs in the summer months.

No Southampton player has created as many as the 56 chances Lallana has carved out for team-mates, claiming five assists in the process.
