Rumour: Manchester City plotting shock £250m bid for Lionel Messi

Is Lionel Messi on his way out to England?

Manchester City are plotting a world record transfer move to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona this summer.

The Argentine who has been enduring a tough time in recent weeks has a contract renewal matter on the line which hasn’t been addressed yet by the club officials.

It is believed that Manchester City are closely monitoring the proceedings of Messi’s contract situation and are preparing a colossal fee of £250million which would make him the highest paid player in the world by a huge margin.

According to reports in Spain, the-26 year-old is looking for a new challenge on fresh new territories and the only possible clubs that can afford his services are Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint German. The option of going to arch rivals Madrid is certainly out of the equation, leaving the latter two as probable options.

FC Barcelona have been handed a transfer ban of 14 months by FIFA which means that should the Argentine leave the Catalans, they won’t have the option for replacing him. But the Etihad outfit are confident of landing him on English soil as they feel he is ready to leave the club this summer.

PSG have also made their interest public as they will also try to sign Messi if he is available.
