Rumour: Manchester United pondering a £13 million offer for Dynamo Kiev’s Aleksandar Dragovic

Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in Aleksandar Dragovic

Manchester United are reportedly looking to bid £13 million for Dynamo Kiev's central defender Aleksandar Dragovic. Dragovic, the Austrian captain, has been attracting interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal, West Ham and Liverpool also said to be interested in a potential move.

The big central defender, who joined Kiev on a five-year contract from Basel in 2013, has been scouted multiple times by many different clubs. However, United seem to have stepped up their willingness to sign him in this window, with their reported interest in Mats Hummels’s signature having to wait till the summer.

What is also possibly accelerating the transfer is the fact that both Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans are out injured and manager Louis van Gaal would be looking to bulk up his defensive line with the Austrian's signing, with his club Dynamo Kiev said to be ready to sanciton a January move.

The Ukranian club have rejected an offer of around £10 million from Zenit St. Petersburg, with AS Roma and Juventus are also said to be interested. However, the player, who came through the ranks at Austria Vienna and has Serbian parents, has indicated that he would prefer a move to the Premier League.

He would immediately add value to the United defense, who have been very patchy in their performances, with injuries and a lack of assurance affecting the team composition, causing problems with coordination. It has also led the manager to play a defensive 3-5-2/ 3-4-1-2 formation, which has affected the team's fluency going forward.
