Rumour: Manchester United and Chelsea monitoring Luis Suarez's situation at Barcelona

Unhappy Suarez to return to the Premier League?

According to reports, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is being monitored by Manchester United in a deal that would also see David De Gea move to Catalonia. The Spanish goalkeeper is yet to renew his contract at Old Trafford. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2016.

Barcelona is facing a mid-season crisis of sorts. Despite defeating Elche 5-0 yesterday, a lot of speculation about marquee players leaving the Nou Camp is coming to the fore. Their star player, Lionel Messi is reportedly unhappy with the administration and could be on his way out.

Earlier this week, Barcelona’s Director of Football, Andoni Zubizarreta was sacked and Carles Puyol resigned within an hour. Messi has been in talks with Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG.

Both Chelsea and Manchester interested in Suarez

Now Suarez is being linked with a move back to the Premier League as United and City are both monitoring his progress. The Uruguayan has been far from prolific this season; in the nine appearances he has made so far, Suarez has found the back of the net only once.

The 27-year old was far more rampant at Liverpool last season. His 31 goals came in just 33 appearances, which saw him top the Premier League goal scoring charts.

United are hoping that the Presidential change at Barcelona, will ease Suarez’s exit from the club. Luis Enrique’s preference of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Pedro and El Haddadi has also reportedly demoralised the Uruguayan and Chelsea are also monitoring the striker.
