Mohamed Salah: Spain bound?

Chelsea’s forgotten gem Mohamed Salah might be offered a lifeline with former Manchester United manager and long-time admirer David Moyes interested in bringing the winger to Spain, according to reports. The current Real Sociedad manager has been seeking to bring in new faces at the Basque club in the winter transfer window with the club perilously positioned two points above the drop zone.

Salah was brought to England by Jose Mourinho last January after having tormented the Blues with his breathtaking displays for FC Basel in the Champions League. The fleet-footed midfielder has however failed to make any impact at Stamford Bridge in his one season at West London.

This season has seen Salah feature only two times for the Blues, seeing a total of 107 minutes of action in the Premier League and Champions League combined. This has prompted a lot of media speculation to be generated regarding the future of the player with the Egyptian International recently linked with a move to Inter Milan. However, the links seemed to have cooled down in recent times with the Nerazzurri signing Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski on loan for the time being.

The report also suggests that Moyes might be raiding his old club Everton for further reinforcement at Sociedad with Aruna Kone thought to be a prime target for the Scotsman. Sociedad will however face stiff competition from Levante for the services of the Cote d’Ivoire international, who has seen himself become an afterthought in Roberto Martinez’s plans ever since moving to Everton in the summer of 2013.
