Rumour: Southampton demand £25m for Liverpool target Dejan Lovren

Southampton are ready to bend to the whims of Dejan Lovren and allow him to leave this summer, but only if Liverpool match their transfer fee for Adam Lallana and stump up £25million to sign him, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Lovren has made it clear of his desire to leave Southampton just a year after joining from Lyon in an £8m deal, having becoming frustrated with the number of players that have already exited the club with the transfer window just six days old.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino had already jumped ship to sign to take up the vacant managerial post at Tottenham Hotspur, while Luke Shaw finalised his move to Manchester United last week after concluding his World Cup campaign.

Liverpool have also already raided Southampton to sign Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana, and Lovren is keen to follow the pair to Anfield, having vocalised his desire to exit Southampton this summer, claiming his head is already in Merseyside.

Liverpool have already made an unsuccessful £20m bid that Southampton rejected out of hand immediately, but having felt the pressure from the player themselves they are willing to compromise with a £25m cash deal, though Liverpool are looking at offering players in exchange to make up the remainder of the fee, with the Saints believed to be looking at Fabio Borini.
