SAFF U16: Sri Lanka crash out of championship

Sri Lanka U16 team crashed out of the second South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-16 football Championship after they were defeated by the Bangladesh U16 team 1 – 3 in the ongoing second South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-16 football Championship held at Kathmandu, Nepal.

Bangladesh took the lead in 28th minute of the match with a superb free kick while Sri Lanka levelled the score in the 43th minute with the long rage shot from Niresh to go to the lemon break with draw. Bangladesh scored in the 57th and 81st minute of the match to win by 3 – 1.

Sri Lanka crashed out of the tournament with two straight defeat. Sri Lanka had earlier lost to India 1 – 4 in the first match of Group B of the Championship. India and Bangladesh have three points each and have entered the semifinals of the championship with one match between them remaining to decide the group winner and runners up.

Nepal will take on Pakistan while Bhutan will face Afghanistan on Wednesday at Dasarath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal.
