Mohamed Salah demands higher salary to continue Fiorentina loan

Salah wants a higher wage, after impressing on loan

Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah will continue his loan at Fiorentina, only if the Italian club accepts his demand for higher pay.

Purchased by Chelsea in January 2014, the 23-year-old Egyptian never really got a chance to play regularly under Jose Mourinho. He was eventually sent out on loan to Fiorentina, where he flourished during his six-month spell scoring 9 goals in 26 appearances, which helped Fiorentina finish in fourth spot and guaranteed them Europa League football next season.

While Salah is keen on a return to Florence, he will only do so if the contract terms of the next loan are improved.

According to Sky, Salah wants a yearly wage of £2.1m, which is would represent a significant increase on what Fiorentina were paying him last season. The player earns £1.6m at his parent club Chelsea, and should Fiorentina fail to match his demands, then Inter Milan will be waiting to scoop him up either on permanently or on loan with a £1.9m yearly wage offer.

Fiorentina are now in talks with Chelsea over a £1m deal to take the winger on loan for a season. If Fiorentina gives into Salah’s demand, then that will make him their second highest paid player, after Mario Gomez. He is expected to be central to Fiorentina’s future plans with their new Coach Paulo Sousa, and could also leave Chelsea for the Italian club permanently if they pay £12m for his services.
