Sergio Aguero got injured in City’s 1-0 win over Everton

Sergio Aguero is looking at four weeks on the sidelines after getting injured in Manchester City’s narrow 1-0 win over Everton.

The Argentine damaged his knee ligaments in a challenge with Everton's Muhamed Besic and was replaced after just seven minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Aguero is the league’s top scorer having scored 14 goals already and City face Roma in a must-win match in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Manchester City boss, Manuel Pellegrini revealed that the striker would not be able to make it in their crucial UEFA Champions League Group E match in Rome. With Jovetic also doubtful and Dzeko not match-fit, the City boss may have to give a start to youngster Jose Angel Pozo who replaced Aguero at the weekend.

Pellegrini said after the Everton game: "Sergio has a problem in his knee ligament. We will see how serious it is after he has had a scan.

"It is not good news and I don’t think he will be able to play next week. He will not be with us for Roma, which is an important game.

"He was calmer when I saw him after seeing the doctor but, generally, we are not sure how he is."

Following Wednesday's trip to Roma, City will face Leicester City, Crystal Palace, West Brom, Burnley and Sunderland in the space of 19 days in the Premier League. Aguero’s injury will stretch City’s expensive squad and they may find it tough trying to qualify for the knockout stages in the Champions League and catch Chelsea in the league.
