Real Madrid have unearthed a knack of scoring late goals under Zinedine Zidane as it was evident last night as a last gasp header from Sergio Ramos maintained their unbeaten run this season. Los Blancos were looking down the barrel with Luis Suarez opening the scoring for Barcelona in the much awaited El Clasico before Sergio Ramos decided to yet again be the game changer for his side. His goal against the Catalans made him the fourth highest scoring defender in La Liga history.

Scoring pinpoint headers when the team needs it most has become a regular thing for the Real Madrid captain. In the 90th minute and Ramos rose the highest again from a perfect Luka Modric set piece. A draw against Barcelona maintains Real's lead to six points over the Catalans with other contenders like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla also dropping points in their respective games.

Sergio Ramos' equaliser takes him ahead of Roberto Carlos, the former Real Madrid fullback who had scored 46 goals for the Los Blancos. Pirri, another Real legend and one of Spain's best ever player comes third in this last with 52 goals. Fernando Hierro is second on the highest scoring defender list with 60 goals who was also a Real Madrid stalwart.

Ronald Koeman of FC Barcelona leads the way with 67 goals as the Dutchman was one of the Catalans' most favoured defender. Sergio Ramos currently has 47 goals after his latest being the equaliser against FC Barcelona.

Sergio Ramos was told to stay in Barcelona's box in the final few moments to increase the numbers in attack for Real. Zidane also talked on this tactic as he was quoted saying, "Ramos has a lot of personality and never gives up. With Casemiro, we wanted him on for more fresh legs and to allow Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric to go further forward. As for Mariano, he was one of our alternatives. It was a collective effort, with Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo also contributing."

Zinedine Zidane gave his views on the draw against their bitter rivals as he said, "This is not the kind of draw that tastes like a win. It's just one point and not three, but it's true that we are pleased because it's a good point. We keep picking them up and we'll see what happens in the next game.I don't believe this is a blow for Barcelona's morale. We have six points, but nothing changes as the season is long."
