Defender Sergio Ramos left Spain's football team's training camp on Friday morning due to lower back pain that struck him on Thursday night during the friendly match against Italy, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ramos was replaced during half-time as a caution against increasing pain in the Italian city of Udine, the Royal Spanish Football Federation said, reports Efe.

He will return to Spain immediately, while the rest of the team continues preparation for the second friendly match to be played on Sunday against Romania, in the city of Cluj.

The defender had felt pain in his back during selection training on Wednesday leading to medical intervention. However, Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque put him as a starter in the friendly against Italy, part of the preparations for Euro 2016 in France.

Real Madrid are expected to reveal the state of the player's condition and whether he will need a recovery period, while the club prepares for the Clasico next Saturday, April 2, against rivals Barcelona.
