After completing a transfer back to Borussia Dortmund, Shinji Kagawa took to Instagram to thank the Manchester United supporters for the two seasons he spent at the club.

He had arrived at Old trafford in a £17m deal in 2012 but failed to nail down a starting spot in the team under both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes.

He managed to score six goals in his first season, which included a hat-trick against Norwich. But last season saw him make 30 appearances but failing to score. He was played out of position number of times, something even Jurgen Klopp lamented.

With Louis van Gaal at the helm now, he was given permission to return to Borussia Dortmund where he became a star under Klopp.

He wished the team well for the future and appreciated all the support he received during his time at the club.

“Thanks everyone!! I could have a precious experience. I really appreciate it to all my supporters. Thank you Manchester United!!Good luck!!”
