Singaporean match-fixer Wilson Raj helped Nigeria and Honduras qualify for 2010 FIFA World Cup

Wilson Raj Perumal makes shocking revelations.

Singaporean match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal has revealed that it was him who helped Honduras and Nigeria qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

According to the Guardian, Perumal had a front company called Football4U as a front to his illegal activities which he used to influence national team players and officials. Moreover, he mentioned an associate named Bee Hoon who he recognised to be very involved in Honduras’s qualifying match for the World Cup.

Ben Hoon is said to have brought down the odds after placing a bet of $200,000, which eventually helped Honduras win the match.

Following that, Perumal talked about his meeting with a football official who was promised help for Nigeria’s qualification to the World Cup in return to unlimited freedom in organising at least three warm-up matches and a cut of the money they receive from FIFA for hosting a training camp ahead of the tournament.

“My plan had worked and I was the unsung hero of Nigeria’s qualification to the final rounds of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa,” Perumal revealed. “Ferrying Nigeria and Honduras to the World Cup was a personal achievement. ‘F*ck,’ I considered. ‘I got two teams to qualify for the World Cup but I cannot tell anyone.’”

Perumal claims that he had to influence three players in his payroll to ensure Nigeria a win in one of their qualifiers, and pay the Mozambique FA a bonus of $100,000 to hold Tunisia to a draw in order to prevent them from leapfrogging Nigeria.

Perumal was previously accused of match fixing several matches, which includes the Asiagate scandal in 2007–2009 and the 2008–2011 Finnish match-fixing scandal.

He was then arrested in Helsinki in February 2011, and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Perumal also alleges to have unsuccessfully attempted to bribe FIFA World Cup referees and two Premier League goalkeepers in England.
