Sir Alex Ferguson appointed as UEFA coaching ambassador

Retired Manchester United manager and their current director Sir Alex Ferguson has been named as UEFA coaching ambassador at a executive committee meeting by UEFA.

UEFA announced in a press conference at Nyon that Ferguson has been recruited by the European governing body.

UEFA’s president Michel Platini stated : “Sir Alex will be chairman of the forum of elite coaches that meet every year. He will also be a member of the technical study group of the Champions League and the European Championship.”

Sir Alex Ferguson brought retired at the end of last season after 26 years at the helm and did so by winning the Premier League trophy. He said : “It is an honour and a privilege to accept this role as ambassador for UEFA.”

Sir Alex might have retired from the managerial role but hasn’t ended his connection with football and his presence will certainly add value to the beautiful game.
