Sir Alex Ferguson "doesn't know the meaning of loyalty" - Manchester United legend Roy Keane

Ex- Manchester United player and legend Roy Keane has raised questions regarding his ex-boss, Sir Alex Ferguson’s loyalty towards the club after the latter’s statement about Keane in his autobiography.

BBC quoted Keane: “I remember having conversations about loyalty when I was at the club. I don’t think he knows the meaning of the word.

“To constantly criticise other players that brought him success… I won’t be losing any sleep over it.”

Sir Alex had criticised his ex-pupil in his autobiography. He mentioned: “The hardest part of Roy’s body is his tongue. He has the most savage tongue you can imagine.

“He can debilitate the most confident person in the world in seconds. He was an intimidating, ferocious individual.”

Ferguson also mentioned that Roy Keane had later became an increasingly negative influence on the team.

Keane further said: “I just don’t think the manager needs to do it. I’m not sure how many books he’s written now.

“But he has to draw the line eventually and say, ‘Listen, these players have all been top servants to Manchester United’. A lot of these players helped the manager win lots of trophies.

“Imagine if we never won a trophy what he would have said. We brought success to the club, we gave it everything we had when we were there.

“But, as I said, it’s just part of modern life now. People like to do books and criticise their ex-players.”

Roy Keane had won seven Premier Leagues titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League during his tenure between 1993 and 2005.

In his new book, ‘Alex Ferguson: My Autobiography’, Ferguson also criticised former players like David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Owen Hargreaves, as well as present day United star, Wayne Rooney.
