The 'rondo' is an awesome training game. You and I know it as piggy in the middle – that game where we all stand in a circle except for one or two who have to go inside and the ones in the middle try and intercept the ball, but it sounds so much cool when we call it rondo, no?
Either way, you wouldn't really feel right about calling it piggy in the middle if it were Messrs. Messi, Suarez and Neymar doing the running about in the middle, would you!
In the video embedded above, Barca's players engage in their regular high-speed rondo training routine and it's the fabled MSN who are in the middle. The joy is evident as players keep the ball away from the desperate trio. As each first-time pass is made without an interception, the excitement levels increase exponentially. And when it ends, they celebrate like they’ve just won the Champions League!!!
Sure, they may have been players of the calibre of Andres Iniesta, Arda Turan, Andre Gomes, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique but when you beat MSN, the inner kid comes out!!
For any budding footballer out there, there’s a lesson in there too – look at the dedication that each of MSN are showing. It’s a simple training game, but they are giving it their all. That’s how you become great.
They haven't had the best of starts this season, Messi has been out for nearly a month and they are languishing in 4th below the two Madrid sides, and high-flying Sevilla. They've looked unfocused and unmotivated and were ripped apart by Celta Vigo in their last outing.
Luis Enrique has been under fire for his rotation policy and the rumours of discontent with Aleix Vidal that has led to the highly regarded right back ostracized. It's been murky, it's been troublesome, and everyone in Catalonia could do with a smile.
If this doesn't bring one to their faces, nothing ever will.
More pertinently, Messi is back, and if the camaraderie on show in the video were any indication, Barca are purring back to life. Watch out Deportivo!
This, though, is about the video. The sheer happiness of the Barca players is - and yes this may sound corny - life affirming.
For reminding us all of the joy that football brings, they are our SK Amaze of the day!
