Rumour: Spurs leading chase for Manchester United's Javier Hernandez

Javier Hernandez celebrates as Mexico books its place in the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2014

Tottenham are now leading the chase for Manchester United’s wantaway striker Javier Hernandez after Serie A giants Inter ended their interest in the Mexican striker, according to the Daily Express.

Hernandez struggled to nail down a starting place in United’s first-team last season and is still seen as a ‘super sub’ at Old Trafford, meaning he apparently wants to leave, especially as Louis van Gaal is set to take over and will most definitely make Robin van Persie the main man at the club.

The Mexican has struggled over the last 12 months and even ended a long goalless drought with his national side at the World Cup when he scored against Croatia to help them qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.

Spurs are on the lookout for more goal-scoring options after Roberto Soldado flopped massively. The Spaniard cost £26 million but scored two goals from open play in the entire league season, scoring just six goals in the Premier League.

Hernandez didn’t get on the scoresheet often, either, but the north London club are looking for a partner for Emmanuel Adebayor and the Manchester United striker fits the bill according to reports.

Arsenal are also thought to hold an interest in Hernandez but can only offer him shared appearances with Olivier Giroud.
