Indonesia’s Daftar Nama Kontingen, All India Football Federation FC and BK Hacken FC teams entered the Junior Boys (Under-17) quarterfinals in the 56th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here today.

The Indonesian outfit, keeping their reputation and playing an attacking game in pool F thrashed Government Mahatma Gandhi Senior Secondary School from Lakshadweep 11-0 while AIFF FC scored a solitary goal against Pune FC in pool G. But the match between Mohun Bagan boys and HK Hacken FC ended in a 1-1 draw in pool H.

The match between Jharkhand and Tripura teams will decide who will qualify from pool E. The match is slated for tomorrow.

Daftar Nama Kontigen boys have been in a zone of their own right from the day they started the Subroto Cup campaign this year. Their policy of attack seems to be getting them the desired results as they have been scoring heavily against all their pool opponents. And it was no different today. Similarly, the Lakshadweep team has been the whipping boy in their pool and they also did not bring in any new thing to their game.

The Indonesians started the goal-glut in the eighth minute and ended it just six minutes before time. During the span of time, they had struck 11 times without any reply. It was obvious that the Lakshadweep team boys could do their basics right, that of keeping ball possession.

Risisianto scored the first two goals and he was joined in the spree by M. Hambali, Dedi, Riczky Fajar (2 goals), Rizky A.W (2) before substitute Eci Mu completing a hat-trick in the 53, 54 and 59 minutes to seal the fate of their rivals.

It was really pathetic that the Government School boys finished their engagements without anything to show on their trip to New Delhi.

On the other hand, the AIFF team members were clever enough on the field when they faced Pune team. The former, however, did keep a tight leash through their impregnable defence, though there were sporadic forays from Pune boys.

Knowing full well they just needed a win to go through to the quarters, the AIFF boys attacked and withdrew, at times, when the going was tough. As a result, it was a boring game but one can understand the anxiety of the teams.

Even after the break, the pattern did not change. Yet the AIFF hit the target just a minute to go for the whistle when Zonunmawia slotted in the winners in the 69th minute to sail into the quarterfinals.

The pool H game between the Swedish and Indian club boys petered into a draw with none showing any inclination to go for an outright victory. Nevertheless, it was Deep Saha who opened the account for the Kolkata team in the 23rd minute, but Joel Mumband equalized in the 48th to bring in the stalemate. With onus on Bagan, the Swedes did not bother either.
