According to a TOI report, Sunil Gavaskar’s firm Professional Management Group are one of many parties who have shown interest in bidding for one of the Indian Super League (ISL)’s southern franchises.

Three southern cities – Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi – are in contention to be part of IMG-Reliance’s eight-team ISL but there are rumours that Kochi could miss out.

As per the report, UB, PVP Ventures and senior Gavaskar’s firm have already picked up the bid documents with the last date for submission being March 24-25. The base price for each of the cities is Rs 12 crore.

JSW, the owners of I-League leaders Bengaluru FC, have also reportedly picked up the bid documents.

This is senior Gavaskar’s first real link with Indian football but son Rohan is a director and stakeholder at Pune FC.
