Swansea City keen on buying a striker in January transfer window

Swansea managerMichael Laudrup has admitted that he would bring a striker to the club in the January transfer window.The new striker would be a cover for Michu who will undergo ankle surgery and is expected to play only by Fenruary 2014.

Laudrup also admits that bringing Iago Aspas, the Spanish striker who joined Liverpool from Celta, this season on loan will be difficult.

Michu has scored 28 goals for Swansea City after joining from Rayo Vallecano in 2012 but has been hindered by injuries in the current campaign. The Spainard has also won an international cap this year against Belarus.

Speaking on Michu’s injury, Laudrup said: “It’s not good news, unfortunately it has been confirmed that he will need an operation. It can be done in the next week and he should be back playing in around a month and a half.”

About Iago Aspas, the Dane commented: “He is an interesting player, he was on our list in the summer,but he is at Liverpool and they have injuries too.”
