TAL Crystal Ball: Gameweek 6 Division 2

FC Brunton celebrate Tushar Sachdev’s goal against BFE United in their GW 5 clash.

With the division 5 games in already, the table is taking shape. Al-Fateh lead the way from C2 FC and Athlos United while Rebels and Titans are also in the mix. Mercurial, Sparta and BFE occupy the three relegation spots.

8:00 AM – Garden Boys FC v FC Brunton

GW 6 kicks off with Garden Boys taking on Brunton in the early kick off at 8 AM. Brunton picked up a much needed win last week against BFE United and will be looking to repeat that performance. Garden Boys faltered last game against Rebels and will be looking to set thing right but they need reinforcements in their attack if they are to hold on to a mid-table spot. We expect this to be an open game and the goals should pour in.

Players to watch: Vishnu Prasad (Garden Boys FC), Irthu Suresh (FC Brunton)

Crystal Ball – Garden Boys FC (3) – (3) FC Brunton

9:30 AM – Athlos United v Emdee Al-Fateh

The big game of the weekend has top dogs Al-Fateh going up against Athlos United. Al-Fateh overtook C2 FC for the top position last weekend and will have no intentions of letting things slip but coming up against a title rival will truly test their mettle. Athlos United have got into the mood in the last couple of games and the results have been pouring in but if they are to establish themselves as a true title contender they need a result against Al-Fateh. Their semi-final clash in the cup showed that Athlos do have the personnel to match Al-Fateh.

Players to watch: Mohammed Arshaque (Athlos United), Tariq Sheriff (Emdee Al-Fateh)

Crystal Ball: Athlos United (2) – (3) Emdee Al-Fateh

11:00 AM – Titans FC v BFE United

Titans FC go up against BFE United in the next game in what is a must-win game for both teams albeit for different reasons. Titans looked like early season contenders for the title but their form has since tapered off. BFE United currently reside at the bottom of the table and desperately need a win but coming up against a tough opposition like Titans makes things tougher. Titans attack hasn’t clicked in the past few games while BFE will look to play a conservative game so expect the goal to be far and few.

12:30 PM - FC Kudlu v Mercurial FC

Next up, Kudlu and Mercurial go head-to-head in the 12:30 kick off. Kudlu picked up a good point against C2 FC last game and with half of the season gone, now would be the time to turn things a notch up if they are to grab one of those promotion spots. Mercurial’s victory against Diablos in the opening game of the league seems like a distant memory and their performances have worsened over the past few games.

Players to watch: Prayag Pavithran (Fc Kudlu), Naren Elango (Mercurial FC)

Crystal Ball: FC Kudlu (2) – (1) Mercurial FC

2:15 PM – Diablos FC v FC Sparta

The penultimate game of the day had Diablos taking on Sparta. Diablos put on a good show last game against Titans but need wins in order to climb up the table. Sparta have fallen on desperate times and currently sit 10th in the table and with only 6 games left to go they need to pick up those wins starting right now. Both teams play with an attacking mentality and this game should be entertaining.

Players to watch: Tony Lobo (Diablos FC), Lalit Braganza (FC Sparta)

Crystal Ball: Diablos FC (3) – (2) FC Sparta

3:45 PM – Rebels FC v C2 FC

The final game of the day has Rebels taking on C2 FC in what should be an extremely close match. Rebels currently sit in fourth and their upward movement in the table has been a revelation while C2 FC are only one point behind league leaders Al-Fateh and a win here could take them right back to the top. Both teams have extremely balanced teams and should an interesting match to watch from a strategic point of view.

Players to watch: Riva Edjique (Rebels FC), Yeshwanth Mekala (C2 FC)

Crystal Ball: Rebels FC (1) – (2) C2 FC
