Thomas Vermaelen has sparked a debate this morning as he told reporters yesterday thatAaron Ramsey was currently the best player in the Premier League.
The praise comes after another impressive display from Arsenal at the weekend, one that sees them sit atop of the Premier League and in the midst of a 12-game unbeaten run since their defeat to Aston Villa in August.
Key to this remarkable run is the rise of Ramsey who looks to have put the horrific injury he suffered behind him and developed into a player that prompted Arsene Wenger to spend nearly £5m on him as a 17-year-old.
His emphatic form has earned him praise from all across Europe and the most recent has come from his Arsenal team-mate who has played with some of the best players in the world with Belgium and Arsenal.
“Aaron is doing incredibly well,” Vermaelen told The Sunday Mirror. “He showed it again against us (Belgium) in midweek with his goal.
“He is the best player in the Premier League at the moment.
“He is scoring goals and looking really sharp with his passing.
“He’s doing extremely well.
“He’s been unbelievable for us.
“He got the Player of the Month award, scoring goals, playing well and showing he is important for us.
“There is more to come from him because he is young.”
The Welsh international, who has 30 caps to his name at the relatively young age of 22, tops the Performance Score charts in the Premier League and has 5 goals to his name already. Despite it being his goal scoring prowess that has impressed the most this season; his 34 successful tackles is more than any other Premier League player and is 3rd in the successful passes completed table.
