Toni Kroos' annual salary at Real Madrid revealed to be €10.9 million

Der Spiegel have released the details of Toni Kroos’ contract, given to them by Football Leaks

Real Madrid are well known for their policy of buying Galacticos and they leave no stone unturned in terms of spending money to get those star players. A latest revelation from Football Leaks, who gave their recent findings to German daily Der Spiegel, showed that German midfielder Toni Kroos is the 3rd highest paid player at Real Madrid, the top two most probably being Cristiano Ronaldo and one of Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos.

The document states that the fee paid for Kroos was €25 million and that it needs to be paid by July 15, 2016, in three installments. Also documented in the agreement signed by Kroos is that his gross salary during the first year of his six-year contract would be €11.3 million, post which he will earn €10.9 million a year from the second to the sixth years of his contract.

Kroos, who officially signed for Real Madrid on the 17th of July, 2014, had initially attempted to negotiate with Bayern Munich to become one of their highest paid players, but following the breakdown of talks, he agreed to move to the La Liga giants.

An interesting feature of his contract is also that he will be paid twice a year in installments rather than every month. Half of his annual salary would be transferred on the 10th of January while the other half would be sent on the 10th of July.

Part of the amendments to the midfielder's contract also says that he is entitled to a one-time payment of €1,818,182 if he is nominated as one of the top 3 contenders for FIFA World Player of the Year award and that sum would be added to his fixed salary later. The same bonus and salary increase would be applicable if Kroos wins the FIFA World Player of the Year award as well.

When asked, both Toni Kroos and his agent refused to comment.

Football Leaks had earlier leaked the contracts of Anthony Martial, Gareth Bale, Falcao, and Mesut Ozil, with their major objective reportedly being to increase transparency in football dealings and to ensure that fans are informed of all the essential details of deals to ensure there is no room for an error or misappropriation.

Toni Kroos has been a rock in midfield for Real Madrid and has been one of their most consistent performers since he joined them last season. Having played 80 matches so far for Los Blancos, the German midfielder has been indispensable for Real and has exhibited great control during his performances.
