Morata to Chelsea?

Welcome to our daily transfer rumours round-up. Today has been all about surprise signings, featuring Liverpool going after a 39-year old keeper while Arsene Wenger continuing to sign youngsters when the need is to bring potent experienced players.

Andre Gomes meanwhile completed his move to Barcelona while you were sleeping early this morning and Andre Schurrle will play for a new club next season as well.

On that note, here are the transfer news and rumours doing the rounds on July 22nd.


Serie A

Rakitic to Juventus?

- Juventus are interested in Ivan Rakitic as a potential Paul Pogba replacement, according to reports from Spanish Media. After Barcelona signed Andre Gomes last night, Rakitic is seen as a potential candidate to quit Camp Nou this summer.

- AC Milan are set to make a move for Juan Cuadrado and have opened the talks with a €25m bid. However, Chelsea will not enter negotiations for anything less than €30m.

- AS Roma are reportedly pushing to sign Borja Valero, but Fiorentina aren’t keen to sell. Roma manager Luciano Spalletti is a big admirer of the player and has made him his number one target this summer.

Schurrle has completed a move to Dortmund

- Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Germany International winger Andre Schurrle for an undisclosed fee. Schurrle will join Mario Gotze at Signal Iduna Park this summer after the former made his Dortmund return last night.

- Rafael Van Der Vaart is targeting a return to Bundesliga after Real Betis have snubbed him for their pre-season tour of the United States. Van Der Vaart last played for Hamburg and is keen on a switch to Volksparkstadion once again this summer.

- Max Meyer has been earmarked as a potential transfer target for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool this summer. According to Bild, Klopp wants to bring the 20-year-old midfielder to Anfield as one of the guaranteed starters next season.

Premier League

Lacazette to Arsenal?

- Alexandre Lacazette is keen to force his move away from Lyon and join Arsenal this summer. The French striker is valued around £35million with Gunners ready to end their striker hunt in coming weeks.

- Chelsea will submit their third and final £67m bid for Alvaro Morata after Antonio Conte spoke directly with the player about a possible transfer away from Bernabeu.

- Swansea are ready to hijack Stoke City’s £13m bid for Joe Allen. Liverpool are keen to sell the Welsh star and are waiting for Swansea’s official bid before deciding to cash in on the 26-year-old midfielder.

La Liga

Andre Gomes has completed a move to Barcelona

- Barcelona have signed Andre Gomes ahead of Real Madrid for a reported £41m fee. Gomes was previously linked with Manchester United and Chelsea as well, however, Barcelona were first to offer an official bid in excess of £40m and have now completed the signing for Portuguese International.

- Real Madrid are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to reports. Sissoko impressed everyone at the recently concluded Euro 2016 with Everton and Juventus also interested in signing the French International this summer.

- James Rodriguez has vowed to stay at Real Madrid despite the club receiving an official €85m bid for the Colombian star. James said: "I will fight to earn my place. That's my dream. I know that the club received an €85m bid for me, but I'm not leaving."

Rest of Europe

Simeone has been approached by Argentina FA for coach role

- Aston Villa star Carles Gil has join Deportivo La Coruna on a season-long loan. Gil is expected to lead a massive clearout at Villa Park after their relegation to the Championship.

- Nottingham Forest have signed Portugal Under-20 defender Hildeberto Pereira from Benfica on a season-long loan. He becomes Forest’s third signing of the summer.

- Diego Simeone and Mauricio Pochettino have been approached by the Argentine FA to be the next head coach for the national side. Both managers have recently signed contract extension and are likely to turn down the offer in coming weeks.
