Welcome to our daily transfer rumours round-up. Manchester is the place to follow all the major transfer headlines of the day with two record-breaking signings completed in a span of 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing on a stunning double deal which could see put a strong fight for the Premier League title this season. Elsewhere Atletico Madrid could soon lose one of their star players to a Premier League side.

On that note, here are the transfer news and rumours doing the rounds on August 9th.

Serie A

- Incoming manager Frank de Boer has provided latest updates on Mauro Icardi’s unstable Inter Milan future. Speaking with Gazzetta, De Boer claimed that Icardi is vital to his plans this season and he is confident of his captain to snub an interest from Arsenal and stay in Serie A.

- Chievo are scheduled to meet Napoli this week to hold talks over the transfer of Jonathan de Guzman and Alberto Grassi. TuttoMercatoWeb understands that Chievo are keen on signing the Napoli duo but the talks are still in the early phase.

- Napoli were given a major headache earlier today after Lorenzo Insigne’s agent threatened the player would quit the club this summer. Speaking with Radio CRC, Insigne’s agent Fabio Andreotti confirmed that Napoli are not meeting Insigne’s demands and there are other clubs who are ready to offer a better salary to the Italian international.

Andreas Christensen can make his loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach permanent

- According to Evening Standard, Borussia Monchengladbach are still trying to complete a deal to sign Andreas Christensen permanently from Chelsea. The 20-year-old is with Monchengladbach on an initially agreed 2-year loan deal but the Bundesliga club are keen on signing him on a permanent basis.

- Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen are set to lose out on Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard as West Ham edge closer to completing a loan deal for the talented youngster. According to Bild, Bundesliga sides were pushing hard for Odegaard but West Ham have all but won this race.

- Wolfsburg Director Klaus Allofs has once again blocked Julian Draxler’s move away from Wolfsburg by claiming that the player must focus on his improvement rather than seek a move away from Bundesliga. Speaking with Kicks, Allofs said: “He should now take the next step of development.”

- Manchester United have officially announced Paul Pogba’s £91m transfer from Juventus while neighbors Manchester City also wrapped up their club record £50m signing of John Stones from Everton.

- According to Express, West Ham have turned down the chance to sign the former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie this summer. Van Persie is reportedly looking for a new club and has also been linked with a move to Leicester City, Stoke and Barcelona in recent weeks.

- Riyad Mahrez was seen checking into Chelsea’s official team hotel after his agent met with Antonio Conte earlier in the day. Mirror understands that Mahrez is keen to sign for Chelsea before the start of new Premier Leaguer season. Elsewhere Romelu Lukaku met with his agent Mino Riola last night to discuss a summer move to Chelsea as well.

La Liga

Barcelona interested in West ham bound Jonathan Calleri?

- Atletico Madrid star Borja Baston could soon be heading over to Swansea after The Guardian reported an official agreement between the two clubs with the player also agreeing to personal terms as well. Baston is seen as a like-for-like replacement to Andre Ayew who joined West Ham earlier this week.

- According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are readying a last-minute offer to sign Jonathan Calleri who is all but certain to join West Ham in coming weeks. Barca are still trying to replace Pedro who left last summer but have failed to find an ideal option in last 12 months.

- Valencia are planning to make an official bid for Turkish star Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to reports from Takvim Newspaper. The 23-year-old midfielder is also linked with Manchester United and Arsenal but Valencia are eying him as an ideal replacement to Andre Gomes who signed for Barcelona earlier this summer.

Rest of Europe

Lyon have no intentions of parting with their superstar

- Lyon have offered Alexandre Lacazette a bumper new deal to fend off an interest from Arsenal this summer, according to RMC. French side rejected a £29.3m bid from the Gunners and are also prepared to increase Lacazette’s salary which currently stands at £3.6m a year.

- Derby County have made a £7m bid for Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri, according to the Daily Star. The striker scored 16 goals last season and has attracted interest from several Championship sides. Manager Nigel Pearson also confirmed a bid for the 26-year-old striker.

- Rotherham could complete the signing of Celtic defender Darnell Fisher later this week, according to reports from Evening Standard. The 22-year-old full-back is seen as the ideal signing for Rotherham after Alan Stubbs openly admitted the need to add a defensive cover to his back line.
