Dembele has scored one goal and provided two assists in his six appearances for the Bundesliga side. The 19-year old signed from Rennes in a five-year deal this summer in a €15 million deal after Dortmund had warded off steep competition from some of the biggest European clubs.
Dembele had asserted that he had set his eyes on Dortmund 'from the start' even though he was rumoured to be pursued by Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Leicester, Arsenal and Manchester City.
The teenager is an exciting talent because of his ability to play in any position in the forward line. His composure in front of goal coupled with his long-range shooting abilities have made him a much-sought-after player in the world right now.
The 19-year-old had said earlier, "I had a lot of offers, but I made it clear right from the start that I was only interested in joining Dortmund. I knew right away that I only wanted Dortmund.”
"The way they showed an interest in me and gave me the feeling they really wanted me convinced me to join them. I have had a lot of meetings with head coach Thomas Tuchel since Dortmund first got in touch in the winter. I am convinced he is the right coach to help me develop,” he added.
"Dortmund are the perfect club for young players, the past has shown that. I cannot wait to play my first game for Dortmund in front of the home fans," the winger continued.
The French winger, who is known for his versatility and his ability to go past defenders, has enjoyed a mesmerising start to his Bundesliga career. His performance against Real Madrid in the 2-2 draw in the Champions League is said to have impressed Real Madrid who are now rumoured to be closely monitoring him.
There is a strong belief that Dortmund have signed a bargain at €15 million and will be looking to cash in on him if he is to undergo a big money transfer in the future.
Dembele had interestingly expressed his interest to join their arch-rivals Barcelona sometime in the near future. When asked if he could be tempted to move to Barcelona in the future, the Frenchman had said, "Not now, because I want to grow and be a protagonist every Sunday. But one day I will play for Barcelona."
Real Madrid are currently serving a one-year transfer ban after losing their appeal to FIFA for having broken rules protecting underage players. If they fail to have their appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) overturned, they will have to wait till January 2018 to register any new player.
However, should Dembele choose to move in the next summer transfer window, Real Madrid can loan him out to another club for six months before registering him permanently in January 2018.
