Umbro Speciali Review

Umbro Speciali

One brand that has truly carved a permanent niche for itself in football history has got to be legendary English sportswear manufacturer Umbro. The Manchester based company’s equipment has been a part of many iconic events such as Brazil’s historic World Cup triumph in 1954, the iconic Liverpool squad that won a record five European Cups, and not to forget England’s unforgettable World Cup triumph back in 1966 which was their finest hour in football yet. Umbro’s popularity extended to extraordinary individuals in football too like Manchester United manager Matt Busby, Denis Law, Alan Shearer and Michael Owen to name a few.

All in all it’s safe to say that Umbro is an integral part of football, and that it would be hard to imagine the beautiful game without the famous diamond logo. However, in the modern world where football boots by Umbro’s chief competitors such as Nike, Adidas and Puma look as futuristic as the technology infused within them how does Umbro compete? Simple, they stick to their traditional roots because well crafted, hardy looking boots have their own charm.

The boot’s comfortable looking front

This highly attractive boot, made up of high quality Kangaroo leather, bowls over potential users on the first sight due to its, you guessed it, phenomenally good looks which act as throwbacks to the phenomenal ‘60s era boots that adorned the feet of every single English player of that era. The Speciali’s toe box is perfectly round as compared to its competitors, adding all the more charm to this already stunning boot. One thing that the impeccable Kangaroo leather offers is natural comfort to the wearer on that unforgiving thing that is a football surface. The superb stitching ensures that unnecessary stretching is kept at bay.

Of course a boot can’t boast on its looks alone and the Speciali is certainly one that doesn’t. The boot’s flawless leather makes up for excellent touches as well as superb striking capabilities which players will immediately take to. Besides technology, players need a lot of comfort when on the field and while the Speciali doesn’t boast of any ‘tech’ like its competitors its leather can hold its own in terms of touching abilities. Midfielders, who love playing a smooth pass, and strikers are really going to love the Specilai.

The magnificent soleplate

Another standout feature of the Speciali SG’s is its monstrous studs. This six piece job unsurprisingly provides superb traction and allows one to play effortlessly on even the wettest of pitches. Muddy grounds also don’t stand in the way of these superb studs which will absolutely plough through them. Although caution must be taken when deciding where to wear these boots as they’ll be absolutely useless on rough terrains. Although that isn’t a disadvantage as they were originally designed for grass surfaces.

Maintenance isn’t an issue with the Speciali’s, but that doesn’t mean that care isn’t to be taken of them. Like all Umbro boots, the Speciali’s leather is extremely durable, and with proper cleaning along with the application of special leather creams, will last you an extremely long time.

All in all with its good looks and plush leather I’m sure the Speciali’s will find many takers from all over the world. True to its name the Speciali is indeed a special boot.
