In addition, six boys – one from each age group – including Vanlalzahawma were selected for a year-long training process with Youth Football International in Delhi. The scholarship winners are: Louie Bastin (U-9); Fahad Temuri (U-11); Shay Smith (U-13); Vanlalzahawma (U-15); Sahil Kumar (U-17); Kevin Malhotra (U-19).

The programme was aimed at nurturing the talent of young footballers and saw 192 participants between May 11-15 at the American Embassy School. All the participants were divided into the respective age groups – U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19.

The five-day programme was led by former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre. He was assisted byt two other coaches who were flown in from the Manchester United Soccer School (MUSS).

Over the period of the programme, the kids were put through a range of training techniques and movements linked to Manchester United coaching methods.
