Another I-League team in financial trouble

There are rumours gathering that another I-League team may be in trouble. United Sports Club which has seen it’s name changed on various occasions after on and off deals with sponsors could be on the verge of dissolution.

Club officials have been trying to rope in a sponsor ever since Prayag Group cut ties with them earlier in 2013 after being involved in a chit fund scam.

Club secretary Alokesh Kundu painted a grim state of affairs according to The Telegraph :“It’s not possible to run a club solely on borrowed money. It’s getting difficult each passing day. We want to keep hoping for the best instead of throwing in the towel. But nothing positive seems to be happening.” “If things carry on in this manner, we’ll have to give up,”

United SC are currently sixth on the table with 18 points from 13 games played. They was originally established in 1927 as Eveready Association and have gone through various name changes to suit sponsorship deals over the years.
