AFC TV shows the match highlights of the game of Kolkata giants East Bengal Club against Johor Darul Ta'zim FC of Malaysia in the 2015 AFC Cup - Group F at the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata last night, which East Bengal lost 0-1.
This home defeat essentially means that East Bengal are out of the AFC Cup. The Kolkata-based team have another match to play in the group but have mathematically no chance of qualifying for the next round.
Amirul Zainal’s goal in the 6 minute put Johor ahead and it would prove to be the crucial only goal of the game to eliminate East Bengal in the group stages.
The rain was unrelenting since the start of the game. However, around the half an hour mark, the referee decided it was unsafe to continue due to the heavy rain and lightning at the ground and the game was halted for nearly an hour before it could continue again.
Once the game resumed, East Bengal looked more energetic but could do little to trouble Johor as they held their slim lead to win the game.
