There is a reason why sportspersons who can play more than one sport professionally are held in such high regard, and Arsenal’s stars trying their hand at cricket shows exactly why it is tough to accomplish such a feat. While they may be world renowned for their skills on the football pitch, their skills with the bat and ball border are nothing they can write home about – unless they want their families to laugh to die of laughter.

With the final Ashes test going on in London’s Oval. somewhere else in the city, Arsenal forwards Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were having a go at batting, bowling and even wicket-keeping. The two Englishmen even padded up and took to the crease on the makeshift pitch.

While they looked very rusty, they soon got the hang of it and even managed to bowl a couple of good deliveries. They are English after all. When it came to batting, both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott were seen practicing their defensive strokes and cover drives respectively. The 22-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain even managed to hit a six straight over the bowler’s head!

But the highlight of the video came when Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina tried his hand at bowling. Hilarity ensued as the 26-year-old messed up his run-up and then hopped on one leg as he approached the stumps. To top it off, he bent his arm more than the ICC standard 15 degrees before chucking the ball and then falling to the ground and rolling over as everyone else laughed and applauded.

Judging by his reaction, though, he may have hit the target as he pointed in the direction of the stumps and celebrated, as did Oxlade-Chamberlain. But surely not enough for England to be calling them up to the test squad any time soon. What about Colombia? Maybe.

The video was uploaded on Arsenal’s official Facebook page.
