Barcelona may be ready and raring to go for the upcoming El Clasico, with the training sessions keeping them busy as well. However, six of them found some time to relax and take their minds off the pressure and expectations heaped upon them by Cules all over.
Neymar, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Jordi Alba, Dani Alves, Arda Turan and Claudio Bravo were invited by the EA Sports team for a FIFA 16 - FC Barcelona Player Tournament. They were divided into two teams of three each with Neymar, Ter Stegen and Alba constituting the away team while Alves, Turan and Bravo formed the home team.
The match was played in a playful mood and the players took every chance to mock the other team. To be fair, the home team was underwhelming with their performance and the away team easily defeated them.
The match was so one-sided that Brazilian right-back Alves admitted that he would prefer to read books rather than getting thrashed in the video game. Even though his team was behind, he kept up the level of banter. He said to the away team referring to his teammates and himself, “You guys are extremely lucky because here, we are family men!”
The most bizarre moment came when the away team kept their consoles down while defending a corner so as to allow the other team a consolation goal. Astonishingly, the home team failed to convert the corner even after the advantage gifted to them.
The away team once allowed their goalkeeper to move ahead with the ball as he went on to dribble through the opposite team and almost reached the half line when the opponents stole the ball from him. However, the home team failed to score a goal even without a goalkeeper guarding the goal. Alves who is known for his light-heartedness whimsically said after the goof-up that “We don’t even know who we are anymore!”
The home team lost the match 4-0, but Dani did not comply with Alba’s request to say “We are very bad” on the camera. Instead, the Brazilian said, “We are...the best!”
