Brandon Fernandes scored his first goal for the club in their 2-0 win over Salgaocar

Brandon scored his first goal in Sporting Clube de goa colours on Sunday as Sporting Clube de goa registered their first win of the season following a 2-0 win against Salgaocar in a Goan derby. Odafa scored early on for Sporting and Brandon Fernandes sealed the game in the 60th minute, scoring with a volley.

This was Brandon’s third game for them after signing at the start of the season. He missed a lot of the opening games because he was still recovering from an injury he had suffered. The club are currently sitting in last place in the I-League with 10 points in 14 games.

Brandon Fernandes is a former ASD Football Academy player, the ASD football academy is one of the best football academies in the world and Brandon is so far the only Indian to have played for them.

While at ASD, Brandon attracted scouts from many European clubs and he had trials with Leicester City, Reading and Sunderland. There was a report some time back that Leicester City had bid €1 million for him, but the report turned out to be fake.

He was also invited to a trial by French team AS Monaco but he couldn’t attend the trial because he got injured. Brandon was invited to ASD to recover from his injury, but he chose to stay home with his parents in the hope that an I-League club will sign him.
