Footage has been released of a bunch of Chelsea fans who defaced the statue of Herbert Chapman outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. The fans can be seen placing stickers on the side of his face, his forehead and even his mouth. Some fans are also seen recording the whole thing instead of putting a stop to it.

Chapman was one of the most successful managers in the early 20th century and was a key figure in Arsenal’s success in the 1930s. He was the pioneer of the W-M formation and also suggested using white footballs and numbered shirts for all players. Overall, a well-respected figure who worked at many clubs in England.

This incident does not bode well for Chelsea fans whose image has already been tarnished this season with the racist behaviour of a few Blues fans in the Paris metro when they repeatedly pushed a black man off the train as he tried to board. They were heard repeatedly chanting, “We’re racist, we’re racist and that’s the way we like it”.

However, reports say that a few minutes later another section of the Chelsea proceeded to take off the stickers. The group also apologized on behalf of the Chelsea fans.
