Ronaldo hails Falcao signing

Cristiano Ronaldo never backs down when asked questions about his former club Manchester United.

When asked about the Red Devils’ transfer activity, he couldn’t hide his admiration for the former Atletico star also inadvertently revealing that he stays up-to-date with the affairs of the Old Trafford-based club .

“He (Falcao) is very good player. I think Manchester did very well. I don’t think he is the wrong type of player. He is a top player so I don’t think it is a wrong buy.

I think he will be a fantastic buy. Manchester have not started well, two points, so they need quality players and Falcao is a quality player” he said.

The Colombian forward turned out for cross city rivals Atletico Madrid also giving competition to Ronaldo and Barcelona talisman Messi in the goalscoring charts. He scored 70 goals in 90 appearances during his time in Spain.

Real Madrid went on to win the coveted and unprecedented La Decima – 10 European Cups- last season but that didn’t stop President Florentino Perez from splashing the cash on World Cup winner Toni Kroos and Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez. They however had to offload Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria in the process.

The Bernabeu side lost 4-2 to Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday with the reigning Best Player in Europe award winner missing out due to injury.

When asked about the transfer policy, he didn’t hide his obvious displeasure.

Ronaldo keeping his opinion to himself

"I have a very clear opinion, but I cannot always say what I think," the Portuguese forward told reporters.

"If not I would be on the front page of the newspaper tomorrow and I don't want that. But, if I was in charge, maybe I would not have done it like that.

"But if the president thinks that the best thing for the team is to buy the players he bought and let others leave we have to respect and support his decisions."

He however sought to not make any judgements on the new signings yet saying it could go either way with the squad changes.

"With the new players the style will change but it could change for the better or for the worse,"

"Hopefully it will be for the better because they are players of a very good level. It would be normal for them to adapt well.

"Di Maria and Xabi were very important for us but they are not here any more and we have to be happy with the new ones. I am sure that it will go well for us," said the 29-year-old

Ronaldo: I wish to return to United one day

When asked the inevitable question of whether he will ever return to England to play for his former club, he repeated the same thing he has been saying since moving to Spain.

“Manchester United will always be in my heart, the people treated me unbelievably there. I wish (sic, I’d love) to return to United one day; I’m happy at Real Madrid, but in future you never know.” the reigning Ballon d’Or winner said
