All is not well for Real Madrid’s Welsh superstar Gareth Bale who has been under heavy scrutiny from the supporters following the league leader’ s 2-1 defeat to Valencia which ended Madrid’s 22-match winning run.

The former Spurs winger was booed by the supporters during last week’s 3-0 win over RCD Espanyol especially after an incident in the 72nd minute. After being set up by Isco, Bale had chosen to take a shot rather than passing to Ronaldo who was at a much better place to score, eventually squandering a crucial chance which ultimately cost Madrid three points.

It was also suggested that the incident led to a rift between Bale and Ronaldo, a rumour which was later rejected by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. “Relations between them [Bale and Ronaldo] and everyone are very good. We are all pursuing the same goal which is to lift Real Madrid as high as possible,” he was quoted saying.

Be nice to Bale: Cristiano Ronaldo

While speaking to reporters following his win at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala in Zurich, Ronaldo was asked how he felt about Bale and the criticism from supporters directed towards him.

“Madrid fans are always the same,” said the three times Ballon d’Or winner. “They are very intense, they show what they feel, they aren't liars. But I think the things with 'Gaz' are normal because they know that Gaz is a very important player for us, a key player.”

"What happened on Saturday is in the past, sometimes I make mistakes too so it's part of the business, part of football,” he added.

“I think the people will be nice with him and they should be nice with him."
