Chile managed to contain Lionel Messi and limit his impact on the final as they went onto win the Copa America 2015. But at times they also resorted to some unorthodox methods to mark the Argentine captain.
During the game, Chile defender Gary Medel who is known as 'Pitbull' for his aggressive style launched a high kick at Messi's abdomen. The Barcelona star was trying to control the ball near the touchline when Medel launched a nasty kick which hit Messi square in the chest.
The defender managed to get away with just a yellow card as Messi fell to the ground. The Inter Milan defender could have easy got his marching order for such a kick on any another day. The foul reminds one of the kung-fu kick which Nigel de Jong launched at Xabi Alonso during the 2010 World Cup.
