Video: Khalfan Ibrahim's wonderful Maradona-like solo goal

Qatar and Al-Sadd midfielder Khalfan Ibrahim has long been heralded as one of the Gulf’s most talented players and he showed why after scoring an amazing solo goal in his team’s 3-1 win over Al-Rayyan in the 2013 Heir Apparent Cup semifinal. Although his team lost out in a forgettable final to Lekhwiya, this goal will not be forgotten any time soon.

In a move that started well into his own half, Khalfan jinked past a host of Al Rayyan defenders, before finishing well and scoring a goal that evoked memories of Diego Maradona’s effort in the 1986 World Cup against England. After the match, Al-Sadd captain and ex-Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzales described Khalfan as “Diego Khalfan Maradona”.
