Video: Rolling in the deep! Noyok's theatrical dive early contender for Oscars

Noyok’s theatrics were quite outrageous, but didn’t impress the referee

The Oscars may be over, but wheels are already in motion for a place on the podium of next year’s showpiece. While Leonardo DiCaprio prays for his fortunes to change finally, he already has stiff competition from one Oleksandr Noyok.

If anyone’s wondering who Noyok is, the 22-year-old is an Ukrainian midfielder playing for Ukrainian Premier League side FC Metalurh Donetsk. A footballer by trade, Noyok seems to be trying to emulate the great Brazilian Rivaldo, but for all the wrong reasons. Take a look at the video here:

During last weekend’s match against Karpaty Lviv, Noyok came on as a substitute and pulled off something which has off late (dis)graced the football pitch a lot.

He rolls on the ground in agony, tries to convey that he is in a whole lot of pain as a result of the foul while lying on the ground, and then when he gets nothing, gets up as though nothing happened and resumes playing.

Noyok is the right man in the wrong profession. The footballer sadly cannot be nominated for the Oscars on the back of his ‘cameo’, but he certainly booked his name in the Fallon d’ floor hall of fame with the likes of Rivaldo, Ashley Young and Sergio Busquets.

Here’s another look at the dive:
