Video: Watch former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers channel his inner boxing star

Brendan Rodgers is desperate to get back into football management, but the extent to which the former Liverpool manager is keen to get back to management can be gauged by an Instagram video that’s gone viral since it was posted.

Rodgers has been getting into shape, anticipating the rigours of management, and has employed a personal trainer, Bradley Simmons. That’s logical enough, but what was rather funny was Simmons posting a video of the former Liverpool manager putting on his gloves and doing his best impression of Muhammad Ali.

The video, aptly set to the soundtack of Kany West, has multiple clips of Rodgers sparring with Simmons, and the 43 year old is quite good, for his age. A series of quick punches, interspersed with slow-motion footage of the aged Englishman is embarrasing enough, but the sound of Kayne West providing the soundtrack takes the video to ‘viral’ level.

Rodgers has been without a job for almost 7 months now, after Liverpool sacked him for a series of dismal results on October 4th, 2015, eventually replacing him with Jurgen Klopp. Rodgers has kept, busy and is now 10 weeks into a 12 week training program, with Simmons captioning the video in the following manner:

“Brendan Rodgers putting in that work with me at 6.45am this morning. I've been training Brendan for the past 10 weeks now, a brilliant client who I'd happily set my alarm for at 5.30am I beasted Brendan today starting with a 20 minute fast run around his amazing neighbourhood before getting the gloves on. Looking forward to sharing his 12 week transformation in the next couple of weeks as he prepares to get back into football managment next season .”
