Video: Wenger and Yanal look ahead to Champions League play-off

Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger spoke on Tuesday (August 20) ahead of his side’s Champions League qualifier with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal head coach:“We have experience of the competition at that level, but every game is different. What that kind of game demands is to turn up on the night, with a top level of commitment and performance as well to play not forget to(not forget to play as well). We want to have the ball and in football when you have the ball you can sometimes lose and for example on Saturday (opening game of the English Premier League season against Aston Villa) we had a lot of the ball and we lost. But many, many games you will win more than you lose and that’s our target.”

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal head coach:“Fenerbahce is very experienced team with quality players. We know them very well because some them have played in England, some of them have played in France. They have (Dirk) Kuyt, (Raul) Meireles, (Joseph) Yobo. They played in England. (Moussa) Sow has played in France. And, we know (Bruno) Alves because we have played against him. So we know basically all the players but it’s a very experienced team with quality.

Ersun Yanal, Fenerbahce head coach:“We are a team with high value and power. So, we want to finish the first round with a score in our favour and go to the second away game with an advantage. Whatever the score is we will play a tie that will be decided after the two 90 minutes.”
