Pitch invaders are usually looked at with scorn and detested by players and fans alike, especially when they misbehave. But there were different scenes at Granada yesterday.
Real Madrid beat Granada 4-0 with James Rodriguez grabbing a brace and Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema getting on the scoresheet as well.
After the game, as the players made their way off the pitch, a few fans invaded the pitch and made their way to the players.
One young fan in particular reached Ronaldo, hugged him and refused to let go – even as the Portuguese forward gently tried to get away as security officials tried to pull him away.
Some players like Sergio Ramos were also hugging the fans to enusre they wouldn’t get into any trouble.
But whatever this kid does in life, he will always treasure the moment he got to hold the Ballon d’Or winner for a precious few seconds.
