Virat Kohli wants Germany to win the World Cup

All of us have our favourite teams in the World cup and more often than not we are somewhat curious about the teams our favourite stars follow and Virat Kohli has people interested in him more than anyone in Indian Cricket right now. It’s rejoice time for German fans as Virat Kohli is rooting for Germany in the FIFA World Cup 2014.

Pledging his allegiance to Germany even prior to the World Cup, Kohli had maintained that he admired Philip Lahm in the German team. “I like Philipp Lahm. I like his work ethic. Probably he is one of those guys who creates most of the space for Germany,” Kohli chirped at a recent function about his favourite player in the German side. On being asked why he’s rooting for Germany this World Cup, he said, “This time I am really rooting for them [Germany] because they have got one of the most dangerous sides in the world. Hopefully this will be Germany’s year.”His love for Germany was shown when he was elated on Germany’s win on Portugal and made a couple of happy tweets for his favourite team.

Kohli and Dhoni skill-off

About his favourite players, he said that he enjoys watching Messi, Villa and Cristiano Ronaldo. "Cristiano Ronaldo is my favourite, as well as Messi because he is also associated with Adidas. It will be great to meet both of them and those are obviously on top of my list," he said.

Kohli plays as a midfielder and confessed that Ravindra Jadeja thinks that he’s Ronaldo when he has the ball and once he has it, it’s absolutely impossible to get him off it. He took a dig at him and tagged him ‘the funniest footballer in Indian team’. Here’s what he had to say, "He (Jadeja) plays everywhere. I sort of play mid-fielder but I have to eventually go forward to try and score some goals. Once you give the ball to Jadeja there is no getting it back so I have to sort of take that role over." He admitted that MS Dhoni is the best footballer in the Indian Cricket team.

"Everyone follows pretty cleanly with a lot of interest. We have foreign coaches who have lot of interest in the English Premier League. Our fielding coach Trevor Penney is very passionate about Liverpool. We make groups and there is a lot of bantering around," is what he had to say about the Indian team’s passion for Football.
