Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has expressed his desire to continue to play for the Blues in the upcoming season with his current contract coming to an end this season.

With Diego Costa unavailable due to suspension, it was Loic Remy who was picked over the Ivorian striker during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City at home on Saturday, with Drogba coming on later as a substitute. This is his second stint with the club after he had joined them from Galatasaray last July.

Speaking to French agency Telefoot, the 36-year-old striker said, “My project for next year will be on a pitch with Chelsea.”

When asked about Remy starting ahead of him, he said, “He played a great game against City. That shows that he is resourceful. We’ve showed that we can present a strong offensive force despite the absentees.”

"It's obvious that I would like to play, but I’m not miserable," he added.

Drogba has found the net on five occasions for Chelsea this season, having made a total of 21 appearances.
