What is an acceptable transfer fee for Luis Suarez?

I can’t help but feel its inevitable. Despite what Rodgers says – that Suarez doesn’t run the football club, that the Uruguayan is staying beyond this summer – I still feel that a move for the Uruguayan is inevitable.

A move to Arsenal

I am struggling to understand the motive driving Suarez’s willingness to move to Arsenal. He’s already come out with his press statement claiming distress due to the British press, so why stir up more trouble by even considering the prospect of moving to another English club – let alone a strong competitor of Liverpool heading into next season. According to an Online Sportsbook, a move to Arsenal/Chelsea still remains possible.

For me, it is a move which doesn’t make sense, and one that Rodgers shouldn’t even consider. Whilst Arsenal more than certainly have the finances to fund a move in the 50 million pound region, Liverpool really shouldn’t be in any hurry to accept that cash. Quite simply for me, it is a move overseas for Luis Suarez, or not at all. Plain and simple.

A Move to Real Madrid (Part Exchange)

Real Madrid have been selling a lot this summer window, but they have spent quite a bit as well. It seems that if they are to make a move for our Uruguayan, it is going to involve Gonzalo Higuain – given Jose Callejon has moved to Napoli already. I believe Liverpool should either sell early on in the window, and not even consider a bid for Suarez within 2 weeks of the transfer window deadline, as ideally Rodgers should get a proven replacement before selling a player as instrumental as Luis Suarez – given our failure to land a quality signing after the Fernando Torres saga (essentially Andy Carroll).

If they were to include Gonzalo Higuain in the deal, I reckon Real Madrid also need to fork out 20 million pounds (15 million pounds at the very least for consideration) in order for the deal to push through. If they add in a top quality academy player, I reckon Liverpool should consider as well. The last thing that we really need is an unhappy Luis Suarez, which can really lead to problems off the field (he’s really consistent on the field, just with occasional crazy outbursts).

Rules for a Suarez Deal According to me:

- Don’t sell to an English club

- Sell early for a good price or don’t sell at all

- Sell for 45 million pounds at the very least
