Better known as FIFA, the “Federation Internationale de Football Association” is an official member body which governs the state of international football, including the biggest event on planet Earth, the FIFA World Cup. Some interesting facts about FIFA:-

• It was formed on 21 May, 1904. Formed by 7 teams then, FIFA as of today has 209 teams as members.

• For the Game…For the World… is the official motto of FIFA.

• Sepp Blatter is the President of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

• FIFA’s headquarters are situated in Zurich, Switzerland.

• The member teams represent 6 confederations of FIFA:-

1. AFC – Asian Football Confederation
2. CAF – Confederation of African Football
3. CONCACAF – Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football
4. CONMEBOL – Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol
5. OFC – Oceania Football Confederation
6. UEFA – Union of European Football Associations

• FIFA is also responsible for awarding the FIFA Ballon d’Or to a player. It is given to the best player of the year.
