Xavi: Neymar will replace Lionel Messi as world's best player in future

Xavi believes Neymar will succeed Messi and become the best player in the world

Barcelona’s midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez has said that Neymar is all set to become the best player in the world after Lionel Messi stops playing. He also praised the Brazilian for having an infectious personality, and his hunger to do well.

Neymar, who has been a crucial part of the Catalan giants’ brilliant run of form this season, has already scored 38 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 games this season. Along with Messi and Suarez, he has also formed possibly the most dangerous attacking trio in football history, as the Blaugrana have overpowered opponents with their goalscoring.

When asked about Neymar by UEFA, Xavi said, "He has an incredible personality. I knew that he was famous in Brazil, but he remains so humble and is a good influence in our dressing room.”

“He is so good that, when Messi stops, he will be his replacement. He will be the best player in the world, I have no doubt," he added.

Although his move from Santos and the transfer fee associated with it has caused Barcelona a lot of bother, he has been one of their best players over the last two seasons, and looks all set to continue in the same vein going forward.

The Brazilian captain is already the 7th highest goalscorer for Brazil, and is only one goal behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the goalscoring charts in this season’s Champions League.
