Liverpool’s Yan Dhanda opened the scoring against Shrewsbury Town U-18.

15-year-old British-born Indian Yan Dhanda opened the scoring for Liverpool Under-18 as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Dhanda, who had signed for Liverpool in July, 2013 after the Merseyside club fought off competition from the likes of Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion, put on a brilliant display in the first half of the match before being substituted off.

Manager for the U-18 team, Neil Critchley had used two different teams for each of the two halves, and the second goal came from a trialist.

Following the win, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "We played an 80 minute match so it gave me a chance to play two different teams. We introduced some of the youngsters to the U18s group and fielded a few trialists, so it was good to have a look at everybody. It was good for the players to get game time in and I am delighted."
