Young star aspires to be as good as Messi and Ronaldo

3. Eden Hazard

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has revealed that he is aiming to become the best player in the world and is planning on working hard to get to the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Belgian admitted that he must work “extremely hard” to get the level of the La Liga duo that he describes as being “on another planet,” but told the BBC that he is aiming to graduate from arguably the world’s best young player, to the overall best.

His manager, Jose Mourinho, recently described Hazard as the world’s best young player, but whilst accepting the praise he insisted that he is keen to kick on.

“I’m very happy because it’s very pleasing when it comes from [Mourinho,]” said the 23-year-old.

“But I hope eventually people will drop the word ‘young’ because that will mean I have moved up.

“To get to the level of Ronaldo or Messi I have to work extremely hard because those players are on another planet.”

Hazard has been instrumental in Chelsea’s rise to the top of the table, but stressed that the Stamford Bridge outfit are being careful not to get ahead of themselves in their bid for trophies.

“There is a great atmosphere at the club but we’re not getting carried away because big games are ahead,” insisted Hazard.

Hazard has created more chances than any other player this season (65) but is just 11th in terms of assists (5).
