Andre Villas-Boas set to be announced as the manager of Zenit St. Petersburg

Fresh reports have suggested that Russian Premier League site Zenit St. Petersburg are set to announce former Chelsea and Tottenham boss, Andre Villas-Boas as their head coach. Zenit had sacked Luciano Spaletti on 11th of March.

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus had also revealed that Villas-Boas had confirmed it to him via a telephone call that we would be taking up the job in Russia.

“I have an excellent relationship with Villas-Boas,” Jesus said. “We were speaking yesterday, and I speak with him frequently. I don’t know if I should say this, but he told me that he’s going to Zenit.”

“Andre was offered a contract, the terms of his staged, are now the latest agreement, and on Monday the leadership of” Zenith “plans to announce the appointment of Portuguese and submit it to the team”, a source has claimed.

It is widely believed that the 36-year-old will be signing a three-and-a-half year contract. In December, he was sacked as the head coach of English club Tottenham Hotspur, and has hence returned to Porto, his native place. He has been tentatively linked with clubs like AC Milan, West Brom and Estadio do Dragao in the past.

Zenit are currently 2nd in the Russian Premier League, but lost their 1st match under interim manager Sergei Semak against CSKA Moscow. On Wednesday, Zenit face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the last-16 round of Champions League, where they will be hoping to overturn a 4-2 deficit.
